Our expansion project will include 2,631 square feet for storage capacity. It will also include 1,768 square feet for a public thrift store. The expansion is much needed to increase storage and protect valuable assets such as a freezer and cooler that currently extend outside our building. It will also include garages to house our box truck and forklift. The new addition will expand off our existing building, and the thrift store will be attached to that expansion.
One of the main reasons for this project is to protect our equipment and increase storage capacity to better serve our operations. The thrift store component is essential as well—we launched a public thrift store one year ago, operating just two days a week, to provide free hygiene products to our low-income clients. Despite the limited hours, the store has generated over $20,000 in its first year. This expansion will allow us to grow that effort, increase community engagement, and further support those in need.
